Sometimes microwave oven interference generates hostile feelings in wireless users! Seriously, the RF emissions from microwave ovens significantly impact the 2.4GHz band (i.e., 802.11b/g), causing wireless LAN throughput to fall to near zero when the oven is operating within ten feet or so from the user. To avoid this sort of interference, consider setting the applicable access point to a different channel. Read my previous tutorial "Dueling with Microwave Ovens" for more details.
