While driving through several large neighborhoods and business areas, I found that approximately 70 percent of the wireless access points are set to the common default channel 6. The resulting inter-access point interference can be significant when users are active on the networks set to the same channel, especially when using wireless voice applications. Therefore, be sure to set your access points to channels other than channel six if your wireless network is near others.
