I just came back from InterOp trade show in Las Vegas. As usual John Chambers, CEO Cisco Systems, kicked-off the main event by keynoting on May 22nd. I found out from one of the InterOp organizers that the show was attended by about 20,000 attendees from all over the world. This is a big change from four years ago, when economy was soft, the attendance was probably half of this year's. One notable thing this year was that many wireless LAN companies were exhibiting in the general area instead of typical wireless zone.
Aruba Networks, AirMagnet, Terrawave Solutions, Ruckus Wireless, and Trapeze, were some of the companies. This is definetly a strong signal that Wi-Fi is moving rapidly into mainstream enterprise IT world. Moreover, there were more than 60 companies exhibiting within the Broadband Wireless Zone. Wi-Fi companies also did well with the Best of Interop Awards: AirMagnet VoFi Analyzer won within the VoIP and Collaboration category; Aruba Secure Enterprise Mesh was first place in the Wireless and Mobility category while Aerohive HiveAP 20 ag got the Best Startup Product award.
