Unified Software Platform Delivers Enhanced Management, Security and Usability across BlueSecure Wireless LAN Solution

Las Vegas - Interop 2007 - May 22, 2007 - Bluesocket, Inc., (www.bluesocket.com ) the leader in open wireless network, security and management solutions, today announced a new software platform designed for its BlueSecure Controller family. The new platform unifies the underlying architecture of the Bluesocket WLAN solution, delivering a number of new features related to improved scalability, security and administration, and system management.

The Bluesocket software platform (v6.1) fully supports the latest line of BlueSecure Controllers, announced in February (see "
Bluesocket Unveils New WLAN Product Portfolio"). Key new features include:

  • An edge-to-edge networking feature that allows for more flexible and scaleable network architectures.
  • Guest/Hotspot multi-property support per BlueSecure Controllers, as well as customized accounts and integrated revenue reports for Guest Access Services.
  • Enhanced Clientless Scanning, including scheduled checks for anti-spyware updates.
  • Enhanced Intrusion Detection System (IDS) capabilities.
  • Roaming support between BlueSecure Access Points (APs) and 3rd-party APs.
  • Improved usability including extensive inline/onscreen error checking and diagnostics.
  • New BlueView Management System capabilities including support for the BlueSecure Controller (BSC) 5200 and a new mechanism to support large template distribution.
The v6.1 sofware platform delivers Bluesocket's edge-to-edge architecture across all BlueSecure Controllers and APs, providing companies with flexibility in how they manage data flow for process-intensive functions such as Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) and security-intensive functions such as electronic medical records and credit card data processing.

By taking advantage of the Bluesocket edge-to-edge architecture, customers can design their networks so that defined portions of their wireless traffic are tunneled to BlueSecure Controllers, while traffic from other SSIDs is given access to an available application specific VLAN. This architecture leverages the design of Bluesocket APs, allowing for certain functions such as Access Control (802.1x), Load Balancing and QoS to take place on the AP, as opposed to the network Controller. Applications such as VoWiFi benefit significantly from this solution architecture as call quality measures - such as jitter and latency - can be optimized.

"The enhanced network performance, security, and system management capabilities delivered by the latest Bluesocket wireless LAN products, will allow us to realize significant improvements in our to day-to-day business activities," said John Sheridan, network engineer at Southcoast Hospitals Group, the premier health system in southeastern New England. "Bluesocket?s edge-to-edge architecture, MIMO AP technology and leading RF management tools deliver not only the capabilities we need today but also the flexibility to expand as Southcoast enhances its wireless infrastructure to support business operations and deliver high-quality patient care and guest services."

"By taking advantage of an intelligent WLAN infrastructure, customers can meet the demands of increasingly complex business applications while delivering security and productivity across the enterprise," added Mads Lillelund, CEO at Bluesocket. "As Wi-Fi supported applications such as Voice communications continue to expand and as the degree of user mobility grows, customers can rely on Bluesocket to deliver leading-edge wireless mobility solutions that are designed to support their mission critical business operations."

BlueSecure Controller Availability
The BlueSecure Controller family incorporates Bluesocket?s Secure MobilityŽ technology for wireless data and voice applications, giving users of laptops, PDAs and other mobile devices wireless access to corporate networks and the Internet while roaming.

The BSC-7200 will support WLAN networks with up to 8,000 users, while the BSC-600 BSC-1200, BSC-5200 will support smaller networks, ranging from ten to 150 APs. The BSC-600 and BSC-1200 will both be generally available at the end of this month, while the BSC-7200 will be generally available in June.
