MRV’S NEW OPTISWITCH 930 ENABLES MSO CABLE COMPANIES TO OFFER
10GE VPN SERVICES TO FORTUNE 1000 ENTERPRISES

CHATSWORTH, CA – June 19, 2007 – MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (Nasdaq: MRVC), a leading provider of products and services for WDM and optical transport, metro Ethernet, fiber optic components, 10GE, out-of-band networking and other optical networking products, today announced that its OptiSwitch® 930, the industry’s first 10-Gigabit Ethernet services demarcation device, will be featured at the SCTE Cable-Tec conference from June 19-22 in Orlando. MRV will be demonstrating the OS930, and its complete line of metro Ethernet products for multi system operators (MSOs), in booth 1215.

The award-winning OptiSwitch 930, part of MRV’s OptiSwitch metro Ethernet access product family, is a single rack-unit demarcation device with three 10GE hot-swappable XFP LAN/WAN (10GE/OC192) interfaces and advanced Ethernet carrier features including hierarchical QoS, dynamic bandwidth and traffic management optimization and end-to-end OAM service management. The OptiSwitch 930 is deployed at the customer premise and serves as the demarcation between the public network and the customer network. The device enables the delivery of Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) defined Ethernet private line (EPL), point-to-point Ethernet (E-Line) and point-to-multipoint Ethernet (E-LAN) services at either full 10 Gbps or fractional speeds.

“MRV’s strategy is to make its products future proof. Our new OptiSwitch 930 is a truly pioneering product that enables our MSO customers to provide end-to-end 10GE VPN services to meet the current and future needs of their premium customers,” said Noam Lotan, CEO of MRV Communications. “This first-to-market 10GE service demarcation solution joins MRV’s line of metro Ethernet access systems that allow MSOs to deliver protected, flexible and cost-effective services with dynamic bandwidth optimization, and end-to-end service OAM to guarantee service level agreements.”

The OS930 builds on the legacy of its predecessor, the OS910, a feature-rich Gigabit Ethernet services demarcation platform first introduced in 2006, which has been deployed at carrier sites around the world.

The OptiSwitch 930 enables traffic management based on an innovative class of service (CoS)-aware rate limit that can dynamically re-allocate unused bandwidth. The QoS feature makes available the bandwidth that was allocated for real-time or high priority applications when these services are not active, allowing for automatic provisioning of bandwidth at the access and demarcation points of the network without complex configuration sets at the aggregation layer. In addition, this feature enables innovative service level agreements that can differentiate a carrier from its competitors.

The OptiSwitch 930 also has high-availability features including network port protection, hot-swappable XFPs and dual-redundant and hot-swappable power supplies. These capabilities give it a 99.999% level of reliability to match the mission critical nature of 10GE services.

This service demarcation device provides carrier-grade network management by enabling a holistic, end-to-end view of the service. The OptiSwitch 930’s OAM features enforce service level agreements (SLA) and provide simplified network management for 10GE packet switched and transport networks. The OS930 incorporates enhanced standards compliance to IEEE/IETF/MEF OAM that enables connectivity, discovery and fault management along with delay, jitter and frame loss performance statistics for demarcation and intermediate points of service.
