RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., June 13, 2007 – Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSTX), the leading independent supplier of turnkey wireless network solutions, today announced a new upgrade to the Eclipse™ advanced nodal wireless networking platform. The upgrade extends capacity support for Super-PDH and SDH/SONET TDM backbone and high capacity Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet applications, while optimizing frequency resources by supporting co-channel operation in channel bandwidths up to 56MHz.

With the release of the new RAC 4X Radio Access Card, very-high-capacity Eclipse links can now be engineered to take advantage of the recent changes by the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) to enable single 56 MHz channel operation in the lower 6 to 13GHz bands. The RAC 4X enables up to 4xSTM1/OC3 links, using a single 56MHz RF channel and both antenna polarizations. Enhanced capacity is achieved with just two outdoor units, reducing the amount of equipment previously required by nearly half, and dramatically lowering the cost of deploying high-capacity backbone systems.

The new RAC 4X also increases the range of Super-PDH capacities supported by Eclipse. Super-PDH was introduced by Harris Stratex Networks in 2004 to enable more cost-effective backhaul networks that support nodal network architectures with software-scalable capacity migration. This latest release boosts Eclipse Super-PDH up to 93xE1, which is 45% more capacity than the nearest competing solution. Using XPIC, this capacity can be doubled to 186xE1 in the same 28 MHz channel, or up to 254xDS1 in a 50 MHz channel for North American applications.

The RAC 4X also enables Eclipse support for carrier Ethernet transport at speeds up to 1.2 Gbit/s, in just two 50 or 56 MHz RF channels, utilizing Harris Stratex Network’s unique Layer 2 features such as Link Aggregation and Patent-Pending RWPR™.

“Eclipse has been very successful in capturing market share for very-high-capacity backbone applications up to 622 Mbps, providing a highly integrated solution for backhaul networks from the edge to the core,” said John Koenig, vice president, Product Line Management, at Harris Stratex Networks. “This new Eclipse release—which is available now—provides a more extensive and cost-efficient solution for backbone applications.”

Harris Stratex Networks will display the new Eclipse RAC 4X wireless transport solution at CommunicAsia 2007 in Singapore on June 19-22 in Hall 4 Booth 4H2-01.
